IDEX fast printing

Compared to a multi-material unit on a single extruder, IDEX two-material printing requires less time in changing filament and generates less waste. In addition, IDEX offers the cleanest two-extruder solution that avoids cross-contamination.

Print in parallel

Cut waiting time in half and double productivity. IDEX is the only extrusion system with two separate extruders that move independently on the X-axis, allowing you to run two prints simultaneously.

Copy Mode: Prints two identical objects at once. It is especially suitable for batch printing, powering studios and hobbyists. If one of the prints has a problem, you can stop that print without affecting the other. This mode is a lifesaver for a promised delivery on a tight deadline.

Mirror mode: J1s directly mirrors your model and prints the original and the mirrored one at a time. For a symmetrical model, you can import half and print it in Mirror Mode to reduce waiting time by 50%, perfect for quick drafts and concept models. As in Copy Mode, you can stop one print without affecting the other.

Vibration Compensation

The J1 gives you a first-class print speed of 350 mm/s, while ensuring high print resolution. This is made possible by optimized vibration compensation technology. This technology reduces vibrations caused by high-speed movements, minimizing ringing to improve print quality. With the maximum acceleration of 10,000 mm/s², you can efficiently realize small models full of details.

Seamless extruder switching and corner optimization

During dual extrusion printing, the non-running extruder is preheated while in standby, and starts printing right after the running extruder exits, significantly reducing waiting time. By analyzing the movement directions of the extruders in advance, J1 can avoid problems such as corner buckling, providing better print quality at the corners.

Speed ensured by elaborate hardware design.

One-piece die casting: The J1 body consists of an upper frame and base manufactured by one-piece die casting, and four aluminum alloy bars. Making the body from a few highly integrated parts - an approach long adopted by the automotive industry - facilitates precision assembly. The J1 is so rigid and reliable, with minimal wobble and warpage possible, that you can print large projects one after the other for a long time and get every print of uncompromising quality.

High-precision linear rails : Industrial-grade linear rails are manufactured by CNC grinding to micron level, ensuring smooth and stable movements. A significant increase in precision, rigidity and durability for a fast, precise and stable manufacturing experience.

Aluminum alloy frame : The J1 inherits Snapmaker's iconic all-metal design, which users value highly for its rigidity and durability. It provides better heat dissipation with the motherboard and power supply spread across the base and aluminum alloy as the main material. All electronic components well oiled, at your disposal.

Removable and dissolvable brackets

Building and removing brackets can sometimes seem like rocket science, but we've done the math for you: stable bracket, clean interface, effortless removal and minimal post-processing required to maintain high dimensional accuracy. Breakaway filament offers the same support as regular materials, but is much easier to remove without additional post-processing. J1 supports PVA and other dissolvable materials. Soak the print, and the supports will dissolve, resulting in a smooth surface and excellent dimensional accuracy. If you're looking for complex geometries, hollow structures and exquisite detail, this is for you.

Dual-material printing

In a single print, you get the most out of two sets of properties. Combine the strength of nylon with the flexibility of TPU for functional parts. Also print multi-part objects. Without assembly, the object gets stronger interconnections, so it is less prone to deterioration.

Advanced extrusion technology

300°C hot ends: The maximum nozzle temperature of 300°C is very useful when printing with high-temperature filaments, such as nylon, reinforced nylon and PC. With silicone socks on the hot ends preventing heat loss, melting and heating of filaments is much faster. Anti-clogging designs make flow as smooth as possible.

Double direct drive: Excellent extrusion accuracy that aids in the extrusion of flexible filament, coupled with the high responsiveness of the double direct drives to make deposition faster, smoother and more precisely controlled. It has a built-in filament sensor to inform you and pause the print job in case of filament deviation, nozzle clogging and other filament loading anomalies.

Compact extrusion path: The uniquely designed compact extrusion path allows you to print smoothly with TPU and many other flexible materials.

Enclosed space: Provides stable environmental conditions to facilitate reliable and consistent performance of high-temperature materials. For example, it prevents ABS and many other materials from warping.

Easy calibration

We use electrical conduction to locate the two hot ends and the hot bed and measure the distances between the three entities: a creative solution to complex IDEX calibration. This time saver allows you to complete the calibration in 10 minutes in Assist Mode.By eliminating the calibration card and value judgment, errors are reduced and higher accuracy is achieved.

Hands-free XY Offset Calibration: When the two hot ends touch the heated bed's square opening, it sends electronic signals to suggest their exact locations, and J1 calculates the offsets between them. J1 then self-compensates for deviations during printing to ensure perfect XY alignment to avoid layer displacement and improve the success rate of two-material prints. It eliminates the long learning curve and saves you from scrutinizing a lot of lines. Touch start and lay back for high precision.

Tool-less bed leveling: A level print bed lays the foundation for successful 3D prints, but bed leveling IDEX printers can be time-consuming. Using a highly flat PEI glass plate, the J1 can go from 3 × 3 (9-point) or 4 × 4 (16-point) leveling to 3-point leveling without compromising leveling and with a 70-80% reduction in downtime. Turn the leveling wheel following the instructions on the touchscreen and the platform will be level for optimal first coat adhesion.

Easy-to-manage Z-offset calibration: Using electrical conduction, the J1 can calculate the distances between the hot ends and the heated bed. Thus, we were able to eliminate the step of moving the calibration card back and forth while adjusting the Z-offset. Just turn the thumbwheel as indicated on the touchscreen and you are the guru of Z-offset calibration.

Custom PEI glass plate

J1's build plate is made of glass with absolute flatness, making your first layer smooth and adhesive. Bright glass on one side and PEI coating on the other side, which helps the adhesion of various strands. The plate is easily removable, making it very practical for maintenance and print removal.

Easily interchangeable hot ends

Loosen the two screws on the hot end, fix or replace it and start printing again immediately. For the adventurous who go for more variations and advanced applications, we offer multi-diameter hot ends from 0.2 mm for precision detail to 0.8 mm for faster printing, and hardened hot ends for engineering materials.

Integrated nozzle scrapers

They scrape excess material from the nozzles and stop the barely active extruder ooze to free multi-material prints from smudging and beading. The extruder can start its print job inline without waiting for the just-activated extruder to cool. Switching from one extruder to another takes much less time, again minimizing downtime.
