Class 4 vs. Class 1

The P2S Class 4 and P2S Class 1 both use the same powerful 55W CO₂ laser. The key difference lies in the safety design and how the laser beam is managed during operation:

P2S Class 4: The laser beam is not fully enclosed. When the lid is open or the base plate is removed during operation, diffuse laser radiation may escape. Therefore, strict safety measures are required, such as protective eyewear, restricted access and controlled environments. While it provides more flexibility for certain workflows, it places responsibility for safety on the user.

P2S Class 1: Although it is equipped with the same laser, this version is fully enclosed with sealed housing and safety interlocks on the lid and baseplate. If the lid is opened or the baseplate is removed, the laser automatically stops. This ensures that no laser radiation can escape under normal use, making it safe to operate in classrooms, offices and shared environments without the need for safety goggles.

In short, Class 4 offers the same cutting and engraving performance as Class 1, but its open design necessitates more stringent safety measures and controlled operating conditions.
